Hero of our today’s review is Ardamax Keylogger 4.7 released by Ardamax Software on June 15 2017.
Look and Feel
Right after installation and run Ardamax Keylogger starts monitoring computer. It adds an icon to the System Tray.
To open the menu we Right-click the Ardamax icon.
Log window is simple while it offers a flexible configuration for user. One doesn’t need to spend a great deal of time and effort customizing the program. All the configuration buttons are placed in the ribbon menu on the top. The rest of the screen is divided into two parts: in the left one there are date and content filters, the larger right part shows the logged information. Configuration buttons are grouped by log type (Keystrokes, Web, Chat, Applications, Screenshots and so on).
Options window also pleases with a simple and thought-out interface. All the categories are grouped into tree-like list. After choosing the category its options are presented in the right window’s part.
Resuming, interface of Ardamax Keylogger is intuitive and handy, which makes usage of the keylogger a pleasant process.
Ardamax logs pressed keychars and system keys, as well as clipboard content. Moreover, it offers special features: one can activate/deactivate showing of deleted chars, non-characters, empty records. Those advanced features allow changing the view between “All keys/Read easy”.
Keyboard Logging information is not limited to pressed keys. We can see what user, at what time, in which application (as well as window’s title) pressed those keys.
In this section, Ardamax gets 5 points out of 5, which is equated with 100%! Really a promising start!
Files & Apps Logging
Regrettably, Ardamax Keylogger monitors neither of file activities (creating, removing, copying, uploading etc). Nevertheless, Ardamax logs applications’ activities, such as their Start and Stop time. Content filter, at its turn, includes filtration by User, Event (All, Start, Stop), Application Path and Description.
In this section Ardamax has 2 points out of 9 or 22.22%. Not good, especially comparing to previous result.
Ardamax Keylogger perfectly logs all visited websites and social networks (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn) in most popular browsers, namely, Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Microsoft Edge, Opera and Internet Explorer.
It also logs emails received and sent via web-based, but not via desktop email clients.
Ardamax monitors chat conversations in a number of Messengers: Yahoo Messenger ICQ 7, Skype 5 (Default and Compact View), Windows Live Messenger 2011, QiP 2010, Miranda, Google Talk, AIM. It’s a pity, but in this list there are no Facebook and Slack Messengers.
In points, Online logging of Ardamax earns 9 of 12, equaled to 75%. Not bad, but there is something to work on!
In this section Ardamax shows disappointed results as it doesn’t log any of PC key events: turn on/off and inactivity time, as well as USB attaching/removal.
Here Ardamax Keylogger obtains 0 of 4 points or 0%!
Ardamax Screenshot Log consists of a thumbnail gallery. For each screenshot date and time of creation are specified. Full-size screenshot is available by double-click of its thumbnail or by selecting of the desired thumbnail and pressing Enter.
Ardamax Keylogger offers useful alternative: screenshots “On timer” or “On mouse click”. Each of features has its own settings. By choosing “On timer” option, user can set interval of screenshot making, check box “Skip duplicates” and “Do not capture screenshots when system is idle”. The last two options can significantly save disk space. If “On mouse click” option is chosen, user can select capturing of screenshots on Right/Left/Middle mouse click. Additionally, set up of JPEG quality in % and Target (Full screen/Active window) are available for both options.
In this section our keylogger has only one omission – disability of Screenshots Uploading to Cloud.
It also needless to say that Ardamax has additional features i.e. webcam and microphone logging. Depending on user’s demand they can be bells and whistles or high-usage functions.
Ardamax has 4 points out of 5, resulting in 80% for its screenshots capabilities.
Logs & Reports
Ardamax Keylogger is really good at filtering. It possesses several filter options on separate log tabs: Date (specific date or period), User, Application and Text/description. For overall content we can use three filters: User, Window Title and Process name.
Unfortunately, there is no Aggregated Statistics in Ardamax Keylogger, though Scheduler is at our disposal.
There are three methods of log files’ delivery: by Email, FTP and Network. Remote sending to the Cloud would be a perfect complement to those three methods, but is, unfortunately, absent. As for the format of log files – they are user can choose either to send them in HTML or in an encrypted format.
As it is seen on the screenshot above, log files’ delivery has additional options: one can choose to send log files once they exceed a pre-configured, specify the list of included log content types, configure the interval of logs’ sending, or choose to clear the log-file after successful sending.
So, Ardamax obtains not much in this section – 4 of 7 possible points or 57.14%.
Unfortunately, Ardamax Keylogger has no blocking functions. It can’t block applications, users’ accesses, websites, USB devices. Blocking by schedule is unavailable too.
So, in this section Ardamax gets 0 of 5 points and 0%!
In the last section of our testing Ardamax Keylogger plays up its hiding capabilities.
Password-protection can be easily activated in security settings
This keylogger has customized Hidden mode. In this mode program is absolutely invisible for the users. All hidden items will become visible again after disabling this mode.
User can configure Ardamax Keylogger to launch by pressing of assigned hotkeys; keyword is unavailable for this purpose.
Remote self-destruction of the program can be set on specific time.
Ardamax wins 5 of 6 possible points in Self-Protection section, which is equaled to 83.33%.
In total, Ardamax Keylogger gets 29 of possible 53 points or 54.72% – mean result.
Despite the fact that it failed at file activity monitoring and blocking tests, its intuitive interface, wide Keyboard, Online logging and other useful features can be a helpful tool for home monitoring and parental control.
